Zeiss Planar T* 50mm F/1.4 ZF.2 Lens for Nikon F-Mount Cameras

The Planar T* 50mm f/1.4 Prime lens by Carl Zeiss is a bright and compact standard lens that has a precise manual focusing mechanism and large rotation angle for precise control. The 50mm f/1.4 Planar T* is designed for medium and longer distances and provides high-performance wide open, which only improves as the lens is stopped down. The lens construction controls flare and ghosting artifacts, resulting in a brilliant image with excellent contrast and natural color rendition. The Planar T* 50mm f/1.4 is designed for use with full-frame SLR and DSLR cameras. Combined with a DSLR with a 1.5 crop factor, the lens becomes a compact, lightweight 75 mm portrait lens.

This Planar T* 50mm f/1.4 lens has the Nikon ZF bayonet mount and includes a CPU that supports all key modes (e.g. aperture priority, shutter priority, program AE or manual exposure settings) on camera models equipped with an electronic interface (e.g. current Nikon DSLR cameras). To do so, simply lock the aperture ring in the largest f-stop (e.g. 16) shown in orange.
On camera models without an electronic interface, or when using an adapter ring for non ZF mount cameras the aperture is manually set on the lens aperture ring. With some camera models, it is possible to set in the menu whether the lens should be selected using the setting dial on the camera or the aperture ring on the lens. Please note that, for technical reasons, there is no halfway notch between the largest (e.g. 16) and second largest (e.g. 11) f-stop. The focused distance is not transmitted to the camera body.
