Tiffen 82mm Pro-Mist and Black Pro-Mist 1/8-2 Filters

Tiffen 82mm Black and Regular (White) Pro-Mist Filters 1/8-2 are used to diffuse hard edges, reduce wrinkles in skin, and soften pastoral settings, rendering a mist look while minimizing light flare. Available in strengths of 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, 1, 2, and 3.

The Regular Pro-Mist (aka White Pro-Mist) is one of the most popular motion picture effect. Creates special "atmosphere" by softening excess sharpness and contrast; creates pearlescent glow around highlights. Great for portraits and landscapes. Lighter grades are useful in toning down the excessive sharpness and contrast of contemporary film and lens combinations.

The Black Pro-Mist offers all the benefits of the Pro-Mist filter in a more subtle form.  Highlight flares are controlled.  Contrast is lowered, but with less lightening of shadows for a more delicate effect.  Tones down excessive sharpness to create the "film look".

When used with digital video cameras, the lighter strengths like 1/8 through 1/2 help reduce the sharpness normally associated with video and yields a 'film look' to the image. These filters are our best selling 'film-look' filters. Note- when shooting scenics and you are looking for that film-look, try the 1/8. Stronger strengths may yield a muddy look.
