The Sound Devices Battery-Powered Single-Channel Microphone Preamplifier creates studio-grade audio in a portable, lightweight package designed for high-definition field production applications. It has a transformer-balanced XLR microphone input and line-level output, providing high gain and a low noise floor, as well as a large gain-adjustment dial allowing up to 66dB of gain in eleven discrete steps. A 3-position phantom power switch enables 12 or 48V phantom power for condenser microphones. A low-cut filter switch eliminates noise due to wind and proximity effect at 80 or 160 Hz (user switchable). Peak limiter switch moderates signal peaks, eliminating distortion due to signal over load. The MP-1 is powered with 2 AA batteries (available separately) for approximately 24 hours.
