The Hedbox RP-DC40 Digital LCD Battery Charger features a backlit LCD screen with readouts, so you can get a clear understanding of the status information of the connected battery, USB 2.1A output and DC 12V input.

Please note: Includes a RP-DFM50 Battery Plate for use with Sony NP-F style batteries but other battery plates sold separately. 

An Intelligent Control MCU can automatically identify the voltage and number of battery fitted to the charger and prevent overcharging regardless of the operating mode selected. Fully interchangeable battery plates allow the DC40 to be used to charge virtually any type of battery. The DC40 includes a RP-DFM50 Battery Plate for use with Sony NP-F style batteries, but Hedbox have an extensive array comprising no less than 37 different plate types supporting hundreds of types of batteries that run from 3.6V to 8.1V. Intelligent charging technology within the DC50 allows much finer control over the charging process than regular chargers. As a safety precaution with high capacity batteries a pre-charging stage is used.

The charging cycle is initiated with a low current and if there is no corresponding rise in the battery voltage it indicates that there is possibly a Short Circuit in the Battery (zero voltage activation). Constant Current / Constant Voltage (CC/CV) charging is an effective way to charge Lithium-Ion batteries and works by applying a constant current charge to the battery when it is nearly empty and the charger CPU automatically adjusts the charging current to be lower than the maximum charging current that the battery can accept.

With constant charging the voltage of the battery is slowly increasing until the battery voltage reaches the max charging voltage at which point the charger makes sure the charging voltage is fixed as “constant voltage” and reduces the charging current until the battery is fully charged. Included with the DC40 is a 12V-24V DC power source adapter enabling in-car use out of the box, or charging on an airplane, bus, train or other location where 12-24V DC power is supplied.
