The Gefen Wireless for HDMI 5 GHz SR (Short Range) Extender System sends high definition audio and video to any HDTV screen up to 33 feet (10 meters). It extends HDCP-compliant HDMI AV content from computers, game consoles, set-top boxes, Blu-ray players, and other AV sources to a remotely located display. HD resolutions up to 1080p Full HD, 7.1-channels of LPCM digital audio, and 5.1 channels of Dolby? or DTS? formats are supported. This wireless system is comprised of a Sender and a Receiver unit. The small "Stick" Sender connects directly to an HDMI port, and can be powered either from a powered USB port or from the included power supply. It is ideal for high-definition AV extension in a conference room or home theater installation that requires occasional connection of portable devices such as a presentation laptop computer or a video camera. The Receiver unit connects to a display with an HDMI input, using the supplied HDMI cable. It can be attached to a standard ?"-20 camera tripod mount, wall mounted using two keyhole slots, or be placed on a shelf. Thanks to its small-size, low-profile, and the included wired IR Extender module, it can be hidden away behind the display or inside an equipment cabinet if needed. Up to eight Sender units can be accessed by the Receiver, one at a time, using its handheld remote control. While the Wireless for HDMI 5 GHz SR Extender system can transmit through obstacles and does not require line-of-sight placement of its transceivers, it is optimized for shorter distances that are typical of in-room use. For longer range extension, use the Gefen EXT-WHD-1080P-LR.
How It Works
Plug the Sender directly into the HDMI output of an HDMI source. When using a PC as the source, connect the supplied USB-to-angled-mini-USB cable from the PC to the Sender unit. Please note that some PCs may not be able to supply sufficient power to the Sender unit through their USB ports and this may cause intermittent or no picture. If the source does not have a USB port or its USB port cannot provide sufficient power to the Sender unit, connect the supplied USB-to-straight-mini-USB cable from the Sender unit to one of the included power supply. Connect an HDMI cable from the HDMI output port of the Receiver unit to the HDMI input on the HDTV display. The Ferrite Bead (the ridged cylindrical object) end of the HDMI cable (if any) should be near the Receiver unit. If the unit is not installed in line of sight of the end-user, connect the IR extender module that came with the Receiver to the IR In port on the back of the unit. Please note that once the IR Extender Module is connected, the internal IR sensor will not function. To power the Receiver unit, connect the USB-to-straight-mini-USB cable that came with the Receiver from the mini USB port on the Receiver unit to the power supply. Plug the power supply into an available electrical outlet. Turn on source and display. Wait about one minute for the LEDs on Sender and Receiver units to stop blinking. If Sender and Receiver are correctly connected to source and display and paired, picture will appear on the Screen. If the Sender and Receiver units do not connect automatically, they may not have been paired. Point the IR remote at the IR sensor window on the Receiver or at the IR Extender (if connected), and press Sender. Navigate through the on-screen menu by pressing Set-up and then Add New Transmitter and have the Receiver look for a Sender. Press and hold the pairing button (see red arrow below) on the Sender until its LED stops fast-blinking. Pairing process starts and a progress bar will appear on the screen. Pairing takes approximately a minute. Once the process is completed, video will appear on the screen.
